Aged Care funding

Government-funded support to stay in your own home

Most older Australians want to stay in the home they know. Government-funded support at home is designed to make that possible, and we can help you understand what you're entitled to and how to access it.

Funding can be confusing. If you're not sure what you're eligible for, call us on (08) 7428 9000 , we'll talk it through in plain language, with no obligation and no cost.

What support at home covers

Government-funded aged care at home is built around helping you live independently , safely, comfortably and connected to your community.

  • Personal care: showering, dressing, daily routines
  • Nursing and clinical care at home
  • Domestic assistance: cleaning, laundry, linen
  • Meal preparation support
  • Gardening and yard safety
  • Home maintenance and safety tasks
  • Social support, companionship and transport
  • Respite for carers

Who's eligible

Broadly: older Australians who need some support to keep living safely at home. Eligibility is confirmed through a My Aged Care assessment, which looks at your health, how you're managing day to day, and what would help.

Not sure whether you (or your parent) would qualify? Call us on (08) 7428 9000 and we'll give you an honest read before you go through the formal process.

You don't have to work this out alone

Most people call us with more questions than answers, and that's exactly the right time to call. We'll explain what you're likely eligible for, what it would cost, and what happens next, in plain language.

How assessment works

  1. 1

    Contact My Aged Care

Call My Aged Care or apply online. A family member can do this with you or for you.

  2. 2

    Assessment and approval

An assessor visits (usually at home), talks through what you need, and your approval sets out the support you can receive.

  3. 3

    Choose your provider

The funding follows you, you choose who delivers your support. Nominate Glo Living and we take it from there.

What it costs

[PLACEHOLDER, contributions and fee structure must be verified against current My Aged Care guidance before launch.] Depending on the program and your circumstances, you may be asked to contribute towards your care. We'll set out exactly what applies to you, in writing, before anything starts, no surprises.

While you're waiting for assessment

Assessments and approvals take time. You don't have to wait: private services can start almost immediately, and transition to funded support once your approval lands, same people, no disruption.

Common questions

How do I get assessed?
Assessment starts with My Aged Care, the Australian Government's entry point for aged care services. You (or a family member) contact My Aged Care, they arrange an assessment of your needs, and approval sets out the support you can receive. We're happy to walk you through it before you call them.
What if I'm not eligible yet?
You can start services privately at any time, no assessment needed, and many families do exactly that while waiting. If you're later approved for government funding, your services can transition across without changing the people who support you.
Can I choose my own provider?
Yes. Choice of provider is a core principle of aged care at home, the funding follows you, and you decide who delivers your support.
Can I change providers?
Yes, you can move your support to a different provider if you're unhappy. If you're thinking of moving to us, call and we'll explain exactly how the switch works.
What do I contribute?
[PLACEHOLDER, contributions and fee structure must be verified against current My Aged Care guidance] Contribution arrangements depend on the program and your circumstances. We'll explain what applies to you clearly, in writing, before anything starts.
Can aged care funding pay for house cleaning?
Yes. Domestic assistance, which covers regular house cleaning, laundry and linen, is one of the most commonly funded services under government aged care support at home. Cleaning is also where Glo Living started, so it's something we do particularly well.
How quickly can services start?
Privately funded services can usually start within days. Government-funded services start once your assessment and approval are in place, and we can bridge the gap privately if you need help sooner.
